Qif Wizard Training

  • When I try to run the program the system says it is from an unauthorized developer. How can I run the application? After you have moved it to the Applications folder, right-click or control-click the application. Ignore any message to trash the application (which may see on Mac OS 10.15+). If you see an “Open” button, click it. If not, click “Cancel”, then right- (or control-) click the application AGAIN. This time you should see the “Open” button. Click it and you will be asked again if you want to run the application. After you run the application once via this “Open” button, you will not be asked again and you can launch the application in any manner.
  • Why won't CAPS Wizard warn me when I type too many caps in a row? If you are running on 10.14 or later, you must re-authorize CAPS Wizard to control your computer when installing or after upgrading it. In System Preferences->Security & Privacy-> Accessibility you should see CAPS Wizard shown. Even if it is checked, because of an apparently unfixable Apple bug, you must UNCHECK it and then CHECK it again. You will have to click on the lock icon and enter your password before doing so. If for some reason CAPS Wizard does not appear there, you will need to click the plus sign and add CAPS Wizard, which should be in your Applications folder.
  • Where is Help available? If you have the arrow icon in the menu bar, click it and choose 'Help'. If you have the CAPS Wizard icon in the dock, click it and choose 'CAPS Wizard Help' under the 'Help' menu. If you need to contact the author to report a bug or ask for help, please do so only by using the 'Email The Author' function under the arrow in the menu bar or under the CAPS Wizard menu if you have the icon in the dock. This will provide me with debugging info that allows me to better answer your question.
  • How does CAPS Wizard differ from your earlier application CAPS Warn? There are 4 main differences:
    1. CAPS Wizard is a modern 64-bit application that runs on Mac OS 10.12+, whereas CAPS Warn is a 32 bit application that ran on Mac OS 10.5+. Mac OS 10.15+ will not run 32 bit applications.
    2. CAPS Warn was a preference pane that was configured using System Preferences, whereas CAPS Wizard is a regular application.
    3. CAPS Wizard can have a Dock icon, which it can use to show you what keyboard modifiers are pressed, in addition to the other ways of showing this that CAPS Warn supported.
    4. CAPS Wizard replaces CAPS Warn's Growl notifications with standard Mac OS notifications.
  • I have already purchased CAPS Warn, do I have to pay again for CAPS Wizard? Because CAPS Wizard is a complete re-write of the application and will persist after Apple stops running 32-bit applications, there is a charge to upgrade to CAPS Wizard. Of course, you can continue running CAPS Warn on systems prior to Mac OS 10.15.
  • How do I uninstall CAPS Warn? Open System Preferences. If CAPS Warn is still running, disable it. Then right-click its icon in System Preferences and choose 'Remove'.
  • Will CAPS Wizard use my saved preferences from CAPS Warn? Yes.
